Amazon and many other vendors list this item as a stainless steel bowl, but I guess that only refers to the color. I wrote to Cuisinart (ConAir) asking about this replacement bowl and the bowl in the original ice cream maker, and this is what they wrote back: "The ice cream maker bowl is aluminum coated with Xylan (polypropylene) non-stick. The ICE-RFB is the same bowl made with the same material."
